Some people

Sometimes, you just can see the train wreck coming from like 8 miles away. It just takes time for the train to arrive. Public transport metaphor, the theme of the day -- it seems.

One of my former classmates is a very nice person, very kind, very warm, and good looking. Everyone should have friends like that, just nice people that care (looks don't matter). She married a guy that gets by on his looks (literally, is a model), and hitting the double double, has lived a very privileged lifestyle (family is extremely well off). He once ticked me off in a workshop session, because he has expectations that some one will bail him out, no need to be personally responsible. Talk about la-la. This guy is fkn really out there.

Found out today they are divorced. I wish I was not so jaded as to say that wow, I was so surprised, how could that happen? But I was surprised because it really deflated me to hear that.

Then I heard who he is now engaged to be married to, and I heard about how big of a wedding it's going to be, with the fancy custom high fashion house rings, the whole 9. I know the person he is marrying, used to be a co-worker of mine, and quite frankly, they deserve each other. Both spoiled, and both kind of have their head up their ass in terms of their priorities in life.

All I can do is feel some sympathy for my former classmate, and know that she will be 1000 to a 1,000,000x better off with someone else. I guess sometimes you need to live that dream, no matter how tragic it turns out as. I wish her a better future, knowing it will be so much better without him.

I sometimes wonder why some people seem to float through life, as if made with non-stick cooking surface. And why the cool people always seem to get trampled. It does really feel at times like assholes just get everything, why be nice.

2007 Division Champs

I paused a bit today to research how successful my favorite pro football team has been in the 30 years now that I have been following them. Frankly, it's an embarrassment of riches.

I didn't compare with other teams, but I do feel fortunate to be a fan of the team. I don't think that they will do much in the playoffs this year, but then again, I thought the same in 2005, the most recent SB championship

What I learned (1977-2007)
18 playoff seasons
14 division titles
4 AFC championships
3 Super Bowl championships
287 Regular season wins (incl. 2007 to date)

All in all, I feel very lucky as well to be a Black&Gold fan.

Heisman Finalist ... Finally

A handful of years after TC was touted as a finalist.

One year after Colt arguably has the best season ever as a college QB statistically of 63 TDs -- on a 3 loss team. DOES NOT GET INVITED.

Colt goes to the apple in decay as a Heisman finalist this year, with great stats and riding an undefeated season

If that jump passing ass from FL wins the Heisman with his "best season ever as a college QB statistically of 51 TDs" and on a 3 loss team, I will puke then swear repeatedly.

Andy's back

Great news this morning that Andy Pettitte has decided against retirement and will pitch one more year in a Bronx. My personal feelings are that given his strong feelings for his family in Houston and possible retirement, it feels like a bonus to get Andy Pettitte back in the Bronx for one more year.

My guess is that this just turned the Santana trade talks on their ear. A lot of the urgency for the deal on New York's part may now be gone.

UH in BCS?

The answer is: YES!

One of the long-time dreams of the program is finally realized.
UH is in a big payday, BCS bowl.

UH finished the season with a #10 final BCS ranking, which automatically qualified the team for BCS bowl selection. The Sugar Bowl game selected Hawaii to play against BCS ranked #5 Georgia to play in New Orleans on New Years Day 2008.

BELIEVE.

UH 35 Washington 28

UH. 12-0. Unbelievable!!!!

Amazing comeback victory, erasing two 21 point deficits to go ahead for the win in the 4th Q, with just seconds remaining.

Another stellar performance by Colt, but the player of the game was Jason Rivers.
I think "Big Game" is too small a nickname for the WR who always gives big time, clutch performances in important games.

I would never have imagined that in my lifetime, UH would not only break the TOP10 in any national poll, but be undefeated in a full season. Speechless, unbelievable, priceless -- and probably once in a lifetime.
