Wow, my first athletic commentary in freaking years. And although there are many obvious targets so far ... including H. Failure's fball sched and bball coach debacle, the interlocking NYY's annoying losses early this season, etc.
I want to talk LAL bball. In particular, the playoff ouster last year and the very mediocre performance so far this year.
I guess my memory is getting bad, and my laziness to search my own site is showing big time right now ... let's talk about last year's ouster by PHX and why it was so frustrating.
The LAL played very much like a team last year jumping out to a 3-1 lead, playing with urgency, playing defense and strong under the boards, K8 (now K24) sharing the ball and being the finisher. However, as PHX played its way back into the series, the team was outplayed, outhustled, outdefended, etc ... to be capped off by the K8 debacle in Gm 7, where he pretty much 'shared the ball' in a really dick way to illustrate that the rest of the team sucked -- essentially throwing the team under the bus
Fast forward to late last week and today ... the LAL surely had a chance to win on Sunday, but not bc they played well ... PHX did everything in its power over a half and change to give it away. Then when they came back because the LAL wasn't showing ANY defensive, rebounding, or offensive urgency ... we'll except K24, we'll get to that ... and this is all game long and very evident
So, K24 panics in Gm 1 and starts chucking up at bad shots for a quarter and a half ... and his teammates just stand around watching him, no one even getting close to under the rim ... and they play ole' defense.
So today what happens, no urgency again on defense, rebounding, or offense -- and then K24 does that annoying Gm 7, watch me share the ball when I really shouldn't crap ... and watch my team get blown off the court because of all the reasons
I am a realist, there are many reasons to suggest that PHX actually could win a title this year ... however, things need to definitely be shaken up with the LAL. If the LAL get swept ugly like it looks like they will, heads need to roll in a big time way. The lack of urgency and lack of talent on the floor is inexcusable
