The week of confirmations

So we have heard this week that DLR in back in 3VH

Now some confirmation for the other reunion, The Police will play the Grammys in two weeks, with tour to be announced soon

I suppose, the downside about these two tours is that they are highly unlikely to reach our neck of the woods ... too bad

Betamax 2: the electric boogaloo

Again, let me say, that my days of vegging and really getting in some serious console videogame playing are LONG ... let me repeat LOOONNGGG gone, done, finito. As an odd note, I find myself at times falling asleep while playing, I mean how darn pathetic is that

So, today I noticed that PS3s are beginning to be sold naked ... yes, unbundled, no extra games commitment to own a system. For that matter, are there any games for this machine?!?!!?

I think that when the epitaph (aka writing on the gravestone) is done for this machine, the question will be ... okay, what was the hype about? ... and dos, game consoles require something ... hmm lemme think, I'm guessing games

See that tumbleweed go by? Yes, I know that this is a real dead time for game releases, but man, talk about me wondering if I need a $599 paper weight, dust magnet, bookend, space eater ... it plays games, huh? I say when

And that's where SILLY should be concerned, because the question is also WHO? as in who will buy these things, to play non-existent games, to pay money that could be used on a much more exciting thing like ... hmm, I'm thinking iPho

The dreamcast and neogeo may soon have a dining partner in failed console nirvana

An american thing?

As fortune would have it, I will be in that neck of the woods for the Radio City show. But something odd struck me about presales today

I woke up early, logged into the presale site early. And although I usually do the refresh thing prior to the start time, never ... never ... really NEVER is it the case that the tickets pop up before appleserv says it's time

WELL, someone should adjust their clocks at presale HQ ... tickets popped up, and I was like so stunned, I was stupified for a moment. In that moment, some of the sections went off the screen

Long story short, I got some seats -- pretty good ones, all things considered. Shortly after I checked out, there were no more seats. Boy, this is what they mean by tough ticket in some big cities ... things sell out in a blink

So because other cities were on sale, or should I say Canada was on sale. I went to check to see what was going on with their sales. All GA shows, but were still available when I checked ... still available when I checked a few moments ago

It makes me wonder if hard rock/metal is a USA-USA-USA!! thing, and the rest of the world kind of laughs at our obsessional love with all things loud, crunchy, D&Dish, and Dio. Who knows, I guess some of the msg board fans were right, should have opened in the upper 48 ...

At the end of the day, though the "D" may have their wish that Dio give up the throne ... I get to see him do some of those Sabb songs that I grew up with, which I didn't believe was ever going to happen again since 92 went over like a lead balloon

When I was getting into loud music in `82, this was the current configuration of the overlords. I literally played my LiveEvil cassette to death -- I mean it flew apart into ribbons one day while I was playing it. And for most of my life, Sabb was just a name that Tony used to keep releasing albums, even though most of the members had long left ... hmm, don't know if I can think of anyone who still tries that ... right, Bill Bailey?

I was pretty stoked when I heard RJD was back in, in 92. However, though the Dehumanizer album had its moments, it didn't really stand up well compared to Mob or HnH. I also heard about the band problems, and thought ... well, that's that for the Sabb name

How wrong was I? ... who knew the original 4 would get back together, tour and record a live album ... and a few tracks here and there. Who knew that it would become very easy to see the original 4 live -- at your local open field summer festival.

Though seeing the original 4 remains one of those elusive things on my agenda, I can see the second best thing this coming March. And frankly when they tour the upper 48 and Asia later this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up in our neck of the woods

TdM

So today me and the colaborers went to TacoDelMar. I guess that it will always be with new things over here that the lines will be long with the curious and the hungry.

How is it? Well, if you remember the old BigBurrito franchise, the burritos are like that ... a ridiculously big 1-2 pounder wrapped in tear as you eat foil. However, there is no variety on the flavors of meats like BB ... just plain ol' mex. It also comes in a smaller size for a $1 less, but even the small one will work your appetite over and render you useless for the remainder of the afternoon/evening

I think that the burrito is the best value, the other things like tacos, enchiladas, and salads seem comparatively small in portion to the burritos. And it tastes okay, fresh tasting ... slightly better than generic TB, but nothing that one would mistake as authentic. The items are assembled from a subway-type ingredient line, some extras cost $1 more

Overall, it was an interesting tasting lunch, nothing I would rave about -- but it is a pretty good value alternative if you want different mexfood, that is fast and pretty good

Interesting Speculation

While planning out future travel plans, I happened to come across an interesting tidbit about a possible Police reunion to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their first single, with possible dates in the US and UK starting up in May/June.

I don't see it happening ... well, never say never especially with the HFO moment impending reunion of Roth joining the all-VH new VH

Read about it here

Side note:
Note that at the time of their breakup, they were absolutely worldwide huge. If they had stayed together the whole time, like their contemporaries You, Too, who would people be talking about right now as the biggest band in the world? Yes, I think about such things
