Just Shut Up

The title comes from perhaps one of the lamest stage names in entertainment ... and for some of us, we know it as a response to a dorky BBS poster who thought that the original stage name we just talked about was very cool

I don't know why it bothers me so much ... but here is my rant of the day. As you may or may not know, things like broadcast media belong to the public ... or in wing commander: all your air are belong to us

So when I see that "Think About It" segment on TWO local channels ... or when Joe "Sayno" goes off on a tirade at the end of the news, I just want to throw a brick through the tv. And why? because the public is not served by their remarks. Yes, I am fully aware that a certain station has been bought and people will be laid off ... and yes I know that there a ton of controversial issues surrounding our life here.

I don't need some jackass to take up airtime to spout off their opinions about station takeovers, the "quality" of NBC vs. FOX television programming, the whole UH changing its nickname, logo, err umm "unofficial fight song". And, I really don't need someone editorializing at me just because they are the station GM either.

It's abuse, pure and simple ... and I think some people are acting a bit too big for their britches. And why is that? Simply because they have an inflated, misplaced sense of importance. Those spoutings are not important to me, and don't serve the public's interest ... they are not news, they are not a public service announcement, it's an abuse of their license to use the public's air ... and more importantly, the public's time.

On a side note, I was pretty horrified at some people's reaction to Orpah's (and yes, that is an intentional spelling ... that's how the name was supposed to be spelled, Ruth's friend) lashing of that guy whose book is more fanciful than memoir. A word to Orpah and her nation of dumdums who need to be told what to read and think ... and weirdly feel this need to clap each time the big (or is it small, this time) O makes a point ... shudder

DO YOUR HOMEWORK (DON'T BE AFRAID TO THINK AND QUESTION) ... if someone was as sinister a shyster as the story told of, don't you think ... maybe, just maybe that person can't be trusted to tell the truth

In the word's of the Ice-T classic rhyme: You played yourself.
