Luau Live from Vegas: Day 1
Well this morning we went to go pick up the rental car and go see some of the things around town
The theme of the day is: this ain't fricking service with a smile town, no, it's not
The rental car was a very economical Focus ... it was funny because we couldn't find where it was because the service counter lady's instructions were basically go that way and go left, and then she got on to another customer
Outside when we found the car, the lot attendant was mr. monosyllable ... I mean, I suppose you wouldn't want to be having convos in the middle of a 105 degree day, with tourists in an open lot, would you?
Off we went, first stop ... Trader Joes. This seems to be the new hot place to bring back omiyage from. I've never been to a TJ's in a while, well long enough so I don't remember what it really is ... yes, a grocery market
There are so many varieties of dried nuts and fruits, frozen and fresh food stuffs, and of course baked goods and other goodies to make your head spin with the varieties ... so having piled up the goods, obviously with no regard for space in luggage
Our conversation in the store was basically about how SD's brother and wife try to feed her nephew almost exclusively organic stuff from D2E ... of course, you know me, mr. goddamn skeptical about shit like that ... well you can go organic at TJ's too ... but that's beside the point
We drove back in to the LV strip ... one word, and yes you can't escape it ... so if you think you can leave here and move to LV ... guess what follows you, that's right ... FKNTRAFFIC!!! ... good Lord, traffic is intense there, any time of day
Notable stops
Desert Passage at Aladdin

This is one of those larger than life places in Vegas ... a mall that is circular ... so, no chance at getting lost. I refer to it as Cool Looking Mall. SD had stuff to return at Bath & Body Works ... ironically they had a $5 everything sale
M&M World/Coke Store
![]()
Well okay, at the Showcase Mall ... after being told by a parking attendant cashier that she couldn't give us a ticket because she was eating her lunch, we got in and were pretty awed by two things ... the four FULL large floors of all M&M merchandise at M&Ms World ... anything M&Ms related can be had here ... a pound of puke green candy, sure ... a Darth Vader head from the dark choco candy promo, sure ... pictures with dudes in plush outfits, yep

Coke store is equally as filled for the dedicated to the cult of Coke ... we got to drink Coke from a bottle for me, the first time in years, we were planning on getting a float but the line was too long
Tonight's Entertainment
Well apparently, only the well connected and well to-do can sit down in shows at Vegas, so although the cosmos aligned and put the WFs and EJ back to back. Shithead peons (like us) can't get seats besides GA seats, so being the old farticuses (read as: NOT WANTING TO STAND UP THE WHOLE TIME) that we is, we decided to go see Blue Man at the Luxor

Why do we have this picture ... well, it's about this far to walk from its parking lot into the hotel
A few notes about our evening at the Luxor:
You can buy margarita by the yard at the inside bar. The size refers the gigantus sized container that is literally three feet high. And yes, you can bring it in with you to the show

The BMG put on their typically excellent, eccentric show. We sat pretty close to the front ... and we learned that is the poncho area. So each seat had a clear bag on it to put on over your clothes. Putting plastic on your body makes body hot, so I used it at first as a blanket, then took it off
Bad idea ....
During a portion of the show, they shoot out some strained banana ... and maybe it's not supposed to reach the first five rows, but YES, it definitely does and I have shirt stains to prove it
Well, back through the traffic, we were tired ... but hungry so we headed to Triple 7 before going to bed -- good Lord, who hires the service in this town ... our food was taking quite long, so we pulled aside our waitress ... who said, oh I forgot what you ordered (note: we had seen our order sitting on the pickup counter for a good 5-10 mins.) ... guess who didn't get a tip
(editor's note: I think we also went to The Meadows Mall, which is fairly nearby the hotel ... traffic was unbelievable trying to get there in the afternoon on the freeway -- SD did buy something that she called particularly Vegasy)
