TOP 2: Bernie pops to left, one down -- Giambi lines a single to right center -- Posada lines a single to left, runners now second and third, as Sanders bobbled the ball in left
Cano is jammed and pops foul to third, two away -- Pavano swings and misses a breaking ball to retire the side ... a golden opportunity by the boards
BOT 2: Edmonds grounds to second, one gone -- Walker rips the ball the opposite way, it rolls to the left field wall, he is in with a double -- Sanders flies to center after a quality AB, the runner at second tags and gets to third, two away -- Mabry flies to left center to end the inning

TOP 4: Matsui flies to left center, great catch at the wall by Sanders, one away -- Bernie draws a walk -- Giambi also draws a walk, runners now first and second -- Posada flies to left, two down -- Cano down looking to retire the side
BOT 4: Edmonds slaps a leadoff double up the left field line past third -- Walker grounds to short, the play is made at third to kill the lead runner, one down -- Sanders goes down swinging after another quality AB, two away -- Mabry pops foul to the catcher to end the inning
TOP 5: Pavano down swinging for the first out -- Jeter ticks one in front of the plate, he stumbles, the catcher puts him out at first, two away -- Womack lines a two out single to right -- ARod slaps one just past the third baseman's glove and down the line into the left field corner, Womack will come in the score from first, and ARod in at second with a 2-out double, the game is tied at 1-1

Seventh Inning Stretch, Yankees lead, 2-1
BOT 7: Sturtze in to pitch, Tino in at 1B on the double switch -- Mabry grounds back to the pitcher and is put out, one down -- Molina grounds a single up the middle -- Seabol in to PH for the pitcher, he crushes the first pitch over the left field wall, a two run shot, Cards seesaw ahead 3-2
Eckstein grounds a single up the middle, the third straight hit off Sturtze -- Grudz+ flies to center, two away -- Stottlemyre in to confer, Stanton warms for Yankees
Runner on first, two down for Pujols -- Eckstein steals second on the 0-1 to Pujols, no throw -- Sturtze gets ahead 0-2 on Pujols, then throw four straight balls and loses him to a walk -- Runners now first and second, and that will be all for Sturtze -- Stanton in to pitch Edmonds L-L
Stanton gets ahead 0-2 on Edmonds, then throws three straight balls to work the count full, the payoff ... is smashed down the line in right, Matsui slips awkwardly trying to field, one run scores ... they wave Pujols, the throw is there, the tag is applied ... and he is called SAFE?, two runs in, runner to third on the play, the Cards now lead 5-2
Matsui is taken out of the game, Russ Johnson in RF -- runner at third, two down for Walker, he tries to bunt his way on ... no chance, the pitcher fields and he is put out the rally is ended
TOP 8: Tavares in to pitch for StL, Nunez in at 3B -- Tino grounds the first pitch to second, one pitch, one gone -- Posada hits a solo smash to right center, the StL lead is cut to 5-3
Cano pops to the catcher in front of home plate, two away -- Sierra in to PH for Stanton, he has to take a timeout at 1-0 ... looks like something got in his eye, trainer is out, he will stay in -- he goes down swinging to end the rally
BOT 8: Gordon in to pitch for NY -- Sanders grounds the first pitch to third, one gone, great diving stab by ARod and a strong throw -- Nunez hits a comebacker to the pitcher and he is put out, two away -- Molina hits a broken bat grounder also back at Gordon, he fields and puts him out to end the inning
TOP 9: Isringhausen in to close, Taguchi in LF on the double switch -- Jeter grounds the first pitch to second, one down -- Womack goes down swinging, uno dos adios, the ball is dropped, but Womack isn't running, he is tagged, two away -- ARod grounds the first pitch to short to end the game
