WC Road Swing, Game 2

Well, little late getting to this one, sufferred through the last game of the UH home season this year, tough loss to Fresno, 7-3

We shall see whether Kevin Brown can put up another quality start and get his second consecutive win

Two down, runner at first --Giambi lines a single to right center, the runner moves up to second on the play -- Runners now first and second, two away for Cano, he grounds out to second to end the rally

BOT 1: Brown going for the Yankees today -- Kotsay grounds to short, one away -- Brown gets ahead 0-2 on Kendall, and on the next pitch, he is plunked -- Chavez hits a seeing eye basehit, past Brown, Cano, and Jeter, Kendall going for third, Matsui's throw is not in time

TOP 2: Jeter grounds the 2-2 pitch to third, one down -- Womack grounds to short, Scutaro reaches, gloves, spins, throws to first, two away, what a play -- Sheffield flies out to center, first pitch swinging, to retire the side

BOT 2: Hatteberg grounds to short, one away -- Ginter goes the opposite way to right for a single -- Watson lines out sharply to left, two away -- Runner on first, two out for Scutaro, he grounds to Jeter, the force play at second ends the inning

TOP 3: Matsui hits a broken bat grounder to second, one down -- ARod hits the 2-0 pitch, lines it over the centerfield wall, solo shot, the NY lead is now, 5-1

Maca has seen enough, Blanton will leave after 2 2/3rds, Harikkala will come in to pitch against Womack -- Womack grounds to second to end the rally

BOT 3: Full count to Kotsay, the payoff pitch ... is grounded along the third baseline, a single to left, Womack's D prevents it from turning into a double -- Kendall grounds to third, off ARod's glove, that looks like another error on ARod, man he is having a tough go defensively so far this season ... the runner goes first to third on the play -- Chavez hits a sacfly to left, one run scores, the score is now 9-2

TOP 4: Harikkala still on for the A's -- Sheffield hits one to the track in left, one down -- first pitch swinging, Matsui singles to center -- ARod also singles, through the right side, the runner moves up to second on the play

Runners now first and second, one down for Tino, he deposits the 1-1 pitch over the right field wall ... and TONGGGG of the metal railing LOL, three run shot, the Yankees now lead, 12-3

One down for Posada, he draws a walk -- Giambi down looking at all 3 pitches, uno dos adios, two away -- Cano smashes one the opposite way just to the left off the Rollie Fingers retired jersey sign, the lead runner to third on the play

The reset, runners at second and third, two down for Jeter, Harrikala falls behind Jeter 3-0, works it back to full, the payoff pitch is INSIDE, ball four, he draws a walk to again load the bases for the Yankees

The Yankees bat around again, now Womack up with the bases loaded and two down, he hits a soft comebacker at the pitcher to retire the side

BOT 4: Ginter grounded to third, one out -- Watson flies out to center, two away

Kotsay grounds to short, force play at second ends the inning

TOP 5: Sheffield grounds to short, one away -- full count to Matsui, he pulls a shot down the first baseline into the right field corner, double -- Runner at second, one away for ARod, he grounds to short, two down -- Tino hits a bloop single to right center, one run scores, the NY lead is now 13-3

Posada hits deep fly to right, Kielty backs, backs, backs, it's over the right field scoreboard ... GONE!, two run HR, the score is now an unbelievable 15-3

Two down for Giambi, he hits a deep flyout to center to retire the side

BOT 5: Full count to Kendall, the payoff ... is flied to center, one down -- Chavez down swinging on a splitter in the dirt, two down -- Durazo grounds to first to end the inning

Brown is now on for the winning decision in this one, good for him

TOP 6: Thomas in for Kotsay as a defensive replacement in CF -- Cano leads off with a first pitch single to center -- Sanchez in to PH for Jeter, he grounds to third into a 543 DP, two down -- Womack singles to right, two out single

Two down, runner on first for Sheffield, he hits a deep fly out to left for the third out -- he is still the only Yankee without a hit in the starting lineup

Seventh Inning Stretch, Yankees lead 15-5

BOT 7: Groom now pitching for Yankees -- Johnson in right field as a defensive replacement for Sheffield

Full count to Chavez, he grounds the payoff to second, one out -- Durazo pounds one over the head of Johnson in right, it bounces, caroms off the wall and rolls away, Durazo ... yes, Durazo in with a standup triple, amazing

Ellis PH for Hatteberg, he bloops one to right center, Cano backs and runs down a over the shoulder catch to retire the side

TOP 8: Street in for Rincon to pitch for A's -- Ellis replaces Hatteberg at first

Giambi flies out to left, one down -- and the stupid fan syndrome continues, as a fan throws a beer down on the Yankee dugout, looks like on Giambi -- Cano splinters his bat and grounds to second, two away -- Sanchez draws a walk

Runner on first, two down for Womack, he is down swinging to retire the side

BOT 8: Groom in for his second inning of work -- Ginter, unos dos adios, down swinging, one down -- Watson grounds to second, two away -- Groom gets ahead on, Scutaro works it full, the payoff pitch ... he smashes one to deep left center, Womack leaps at the wall, it hits off the wall ... a TRIPLE, whoa

Two down, runner on third for Thomas, he singles to right over the leaping Cano, one run scores, the NY lead is cut again, 15-6

TOP 9: Dotel now in for A's, his first go since being roughed up two games in a row on walkoffs by the Sawx -- Russ Johnson batting for Sheffield, he lines out to left, one down -- Matsui drills one to right, it hits the top of the wall in right, double -- ARod pops out to right, two down, Matsui smart tag to advance to third -- Tino tough ground shot at second, the 2B makes the play to retire the side

BOT 9: Quantrill will try to put the wraps on for the Yankees -- Chavez grounds out to short, one down -- full count to Kielty, he is frozen pizza to end the game

Tino had an awesome game with 5 RBI

FINAL: Yankees win, 15-6

The Yankees up to their recent pattern of jump em early and often, a really solid performance by Kevin Brown and his second win of the season
