Limits of Moore's Law
I can't say today was the most fun day ever -- but it certainly was productive.
Basically I spent the day testing out software updates for my computer and seeing whether I liked them or not -- whee fun, huh? ha
It made me realize that in the attempt to go faster and faster, with more and more memory, etc. -- obsoleteness is not only obvious and inevitable -- well, dammit, it's highly annoying
It's annoying when I cannot access certain features because my processor speed is not up to current snuff -- which brings us back to the eternal question -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it -- but in computerland, if it ain't broke, so what (you need a new computer)
Piss me off

i totally understand where you are coming from. When the new Sony 8 megapixel digital camera came out I was pretty sure I'd just upgrade mine and get it but I decided against it when the reviews that came out were less than stunning. So I have old technology that actually takes nice pictures with less noise than the newer and more hyped technology.

I used to be an upgradaholic, then I calmed down and settled in with stuff I like-- I think the problem is that I don't like the new stuff

i never had that problem since im a professed upgradaholic. never bothered not getting the latest and greatest unless it was something i realllly didnt need. just love gadgets and tech too much i guess.
