A-Political R U.S.
You know, I don't know when I realized it -- or perhaps I chose to be in denial for quite a while now -- but when was the last time that I was truly interested in who was our President -- aka leader of the free world guy
I think it was at a time when I was more naive and idealistic about what America was about, what values the US espoused, and overall a lot less information overloaded about what is going on in American politics
I look at this year's set of candidates shaping up -- Bush, Kerry, Nader, et al. -- and I say to myself, sheesh, I'm not even remotely interested in any of them -- none of them really strikes my imagination or fancy in terms of policies, solutions, charisma, or whatever other applied criteria
So is the bland candidate the reason why Americans no longer vote or care -- maybe -- but when more people are far more concerned with American Idol and watching commercials during the Super Bowl -- it really comes down to what you can catch my fancy for a moment with -- the soundbite, the blurb, because I have video games to play, traffic to sit in, and things to stress about -- is this the freedom that we have lost 500+ and counting lives over? There's no answer to that, is there?
