Shop, Shop, Til You Rock
perhaps you were expecting me to talk about the war??
Or. even better, about my March Madness Brackets?? YEAH RIGHT, in my office pool, I'm behind BY A LARGE MARGIN ... a woman
So enough babble, let's try to write something tonight ... away we go
I must admit, I have been buying quite a bit of CDs the past 2 weeks or so ... WHAT?!?!?!? People STILL buy music nowadays?!?!?!?!
Don't even get me started about a certain anonymous record chain's pricing (rhymes with TOWER)! ... Thank Supreme Beings for Circuit City
Anyways, I figure that when I have absolutely nothing to post ... maybe I can write reviews of the music that I bought recently ... a total of nine CDs, that should be sufficient enough for you to never return to my weblog EVER AGAIN
But first, let me say something about one of the CDs I bought just today actually.
This is a compilation of Black Flag covers ... now, I know that most of my readers ALL TWO of you ... have no idea who Black Flag is ... and I personally don't think its my obligation to teach you about who they are ... you are ON THE INTERNET, aren't you?!?!? ... well, use that one hand to search and learn about this great band
What I do want to talk about is --- what could bring together a whole bunch of great artists together to record an album
It's an album whose proceeds will go to benefit the West Memphis Three.
I don't really have the energy or complete, adequate knowledge to explain the situation of these three people and their alleged connection to the Robin Hood Hills Murders of 1993 in Arkansas.
In a nutshell, three teens were allegedly part of a Satanic cult that brutally murdered and mutilated three young children. Among other factors, they were thought to be "Satanic" because they liked Metallica and wore black. Now you may say, this weblog takes a flippant and less than serious approach about Satan and evil
All kidding aside, these men sit in jail awaiting death sentences, and there is much controversy surrounding the criminal and judicial process leading to their conviction ... and to me at least, that is a serious matter
Whatever you may think or know about Black Flag music, all proceeds from sales will go to the benefit of these three men and fund their legal defense
I'm not an advocate for their guilt or innocence, there are many others who feel strongly either way who you can find on the Internet.
As a person sworn to defend the Constitution and the laws of this state and the country (wow, do I sound important now or what???)
Seriously, I am VERY concerned about the criminal and judicial process leading to their conviction, and whether the end result is guilt or innocence, I feel concerned about these men receiving fair judicial process which supposedly we are all entitled to as citizens of this nation
